IPT qualifier Oslo
I decided in the last minute to enter the IPT qualifier in Oslo on the 15th off September. And man……am I glad I did.
There where only five players competing for the two spots in Las Vegas. But that did not mean the competition was easy.
My first match I played Roger Lysholm from Norway. He is the nr 1 ranked in Norway at the moment. The match started a little tentative from both players. I don’t know about Roger, but I was defiantly very nervous. Half way through the match Roger snapped out of it and started playing really well. He won the match 10-3.
So I had to take the long way to get to Vegas. In my first match in the losers bracket Lars Harald Riiber was waiting for me. He has a lot of international experience from playing on the national team for many years. He has also traveled around the world doing trick shot exhibitions. It was a tough match to play. But I managed to pull it off winning 10-4.
In my next match I played Kim Garmark. He was the one who eliminated me from the last qualifier in Oslo, so it was time for revenge. I was ahead the whole match, breaking good, not making to many mistakes, 4 break and runs I think. But at the score 9-6 I let him back on the table. The tied the score 9-9, and was on his way to close the door on me. But he hooked himself on the 8-ball and gave me a last chance to take it home. I didn’t have to be asked twice. 10-9. Phjjjuuuu! Still alive.
Then we where ready to judgment day. Winner goes to Vegas, looser stays home. Again it was Roger and me. This was going to be a thriller match. We both played really well. Roger had 4 breaks and run, I had 6. It went back and forward the whole match. I was up 5-2, then Roger was leading 6-5, then I was in front 7-6. Then I didn’t get on the table until the score was 9-7 Roger. He scratch on the break and gave me an opportunity. I ran that rack, and broke and ran the next two to win the match 10-9. Juhhuuuu!!!!!!
Kari Paloheimo from Finland, went through on the winner side and will be joining me in Vegas.
